A DEXA scan (short for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) is the gold standard for measuring body composition, bone density and mineral content. This is how pro athletes discover hidden details about their body composition, and tailor-make a nutrition plan to specifically alter their body composition to maximise performance. Every Performance Nutrition Coaching protocol starts with a DEXA scan, and then ends with another DEXA scan to demonstrate results.
BESPOKE NUTRITION PROGRAMMING
For most recreational or student athletes in Asia, this is the first time they have ever had a nutrition plan customised to their individual needs – based on their goals and unique physiology – under the tutelage of a nutritionist who helped professional athletes live up to their contracts and expectations.

When I parted ways with the Hong Kong Rugby Union, I received a deluge of requests for one-on-one coaching — not from pro athletes, but from discerning amateurs in pursuit of pushing their personal limits and eager for individualised direction. That’s when I realised — the personalised attention to nutrition that I had taken for granted in my decade-long career was largely unattainable for the majority of performance athletes who never attained or aspired to a professional contract.

As a former regional netball player, I’ve been a competitive sportswoman my whole life. In recent years I have taken up running and trail racing, competing in competitions across Asia. At 58, I engaged Luke Davey of NU Performance to prioritize my fitness. I had a rugby background and moved to Hong Kong in 1995, where I had a successful rugby career. However, old injuries led to weight gain and an unhealthy lifestyle for 13 years. In 2017, a cardiac problem was fixed, giving me a second chance. I resumed cycling, hiking, and running.
In early 2023, I hired a cycling coach but struggled with weight and nutrition. That’s when I sought Luke’s help. I did my ACL revision in October 2020. I needed help with my knee post ACL revision. I was recommended to work with Luke for my sports and conditioning as I am a professional football player. He created an individualised program to suit my needs. He also helped me set up a gym program so that he could keep track of the work I was doing. Six weeks out from my wedding day, I panicked. After a few too many celebrations in the run up, the dress was tight and I lacked serious confidence in how I felt about being a bride.
